Founded in 2007, One for One Chicago is proud to offer wrap-around services for young people from ages 16-24 as they develop employability and socio-emotional skills. The youth are capable and willing individuals, eager to learn and grow and we are grateful for the contributions they are making to the community and beyond. This program is possible through your generous support, our community partners and devoted staff.
This summer we provided 25 teens with paid internships as a part of our Keeping Grounded Program. Beyond working in the garden, interns attended weekly workshops to engage in workforce training, job readiness skills and were equipped with essential social emotional support and tools to help them on their journey in becoming leaders and high performers. We also experienced visiting different places around the Chicagoland area with field trips to partners’ businesses, which for some of our interns, introduced opportunities outside of their neighborhoods for the first time. Every event, workshop and interaction is intentional with future job placement in mind. We provide fair wages to our interns as well as financial literacy training to help ensure their success. Your support enables us to offer transformative life skills that pay dividends to the youth, their families and all of us as a city.
If you don’t already, please follow our Instagram page where you’ll be able to see the amazing development the interns made in our gardens, pictures from workshops and field trips, and you’ll also have a chance to virtually meet some of the interns from the program who are showcased on our page!
